10 Acres

Our Farm

We know where it grows, because we grow it right here at our 10 Acres Farm. We strive to showcase local ingredients by utilizing our own seasonal crops from the farm at our 4 dining locations & by sourcing from local producers whenever possible.

Something tasty (& exciting) is coming soon! You’ll be able to taste for yourself soon…

From The Farm

Our Crops

Our crops

We are inspired to grow a range of different foods at 10 Acres Farm – some familiar, some new, always unique and nutritious. Our vegetables are mainly grown from heirloom seeds and are selected for their outstanding flavours and nutrient value, their suitability to our West Coast climate, and their visual appeal. When possible, we source from small Canadian seed businesses, from varieties that have passed through family generations.

Orchard & Bees

Our Orchard

Our orchard has been planted with a range of fruits and nut varieties suitable for preparation in our restaurants. During late summer preserves such as jams, jellies or chutneys are made. Ripe fruit is made into house made ice cream for the restaurants and berries and melons form the basis of our dessert menu and creative cocktails.

BEES & HONEY
Our bees work hard to pollinate our fruit trees and flowers gathering nectar from spring maple flow and cane berries and flowers throughout the summer.

ORCHARD & VINES
Cherries, plums, lemons, limes, figs, quince, olives, kiwis, grapes, strawberries, tayberries, apples, marionberries, blueberries, peaches, blackberries, raspberries, apricots, loganberries, peaches, blackcurrant, pears, persimmons, walnuts & hazelnuts

Livestock

All animals on the farm are grass pastured; this diet is supplemented with non GMO feed, spent grains from Swan’s Brewpub and vegetable trim from the kitchens at 10 Acres Bistro, Kitchen + Commons.

Our livestock breeds are selected using the same criteria as our crops. We choose to raise heritage breed animals who are suited to an outdoor life where foraging is their natural instinct. Their varied diet ensures a healthy animal and the very best texture and flavour to the end product. Our animals may not grow the biggest or fastest, but we believe it is the ethical choice.

WE CURRENTLY RAISE
turkeys, KuneKune pigs & heritage breed Ossabaw Island hogs for meat; although we have reared a range of healthy happy animals over the years.
